Weather 2000 was originally devised in the early 1990's as an association of meteorologists and scientists. The focus of the research was statistical climate prediction, atmospheric dynamics, and hurricane forecasting. As demand grew for customized long-range meteorological forecasts by the Agriculture, Energy, Re/Insurance, Law and Retail Industries, the company was formed in early 1997 to better serve these needs. Weather 2000 was the first long-range consulting firm to provide the Energy and Re/Insurance Industries with research and meteorological forecasts for Weather Derivatives, Weather Insurance and Weather Risk Management. Since the Weather Risk Market's origins in early 1997, Weather 2000 has conducted hundreds of Site-Specific Long Range Forecasts and research reports for our clients, providing invaluable assistance and insight, saving them millions of dollars to date. The Internet, along with print and television media have inundated the
public with "forecast" information, which often creates confusion. One
of our main objectives is to educate the public and
our clients on the hows and whys of weather,
From our headquarters in New York City, Weather 2000 has access to comprehensive computer models, and has working relationships with government and academic research institutions around the world.
